Hi @Dhon1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion Notebook after a featured update. It's important to address this situation carefully to avoid any potential loss of files. Here are some steps you can try.
- Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Try restarting your laptop and see if it boots up without any errors.
- Boot into Safe Mode: Booting into Safe Mode can help troubleshoot and identify the cause of the issue. Restart your laptop and press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu. From there, choose Safe Mode.
- System Restore: If you have a system restore point created before the update, you can use it to revert your system to a previous state. Boot into the Advanced Boot Options menu, select "Repair your computer," and choose System Restore.
- Use Automatic Repair: If you're stuck in automatic repair, allow it to complete the process. Sometimes, it might take a while, but it could fix the problem.
- Check Disk for Errors: Run a disk check to identify and fix any errors on your hard drive. Open Command Prompt from the Advanced Boot Options and type the command: chkdsk /f /r C: (replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if your Windows installation is on a different drive).
- Backup Your Files: If you have access to another computer, consider removing the hard drive from your laptop and connecting it to the other computer to back up your important files.
Remember to back up your important files before attempting any major troubleshooting steps to avoid potential data loss.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
