I'm having a problem with the BIOS on my laptop, and I'm trying to access it. However, when I try to open the BIOS, it stays at the Victus logo at startup, and neither the Esc menu nor the boot menu open. I tried updating the BIOS and reflashing it, but it still didn't work. I'm currently using the F30 version and I don't know what to do. Should I switch back to the F29 version or take that risk?

Hi @klashain,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Victus laptop is stuck at the logo and you cannot access the BIOS, even after updating to version F30. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot this.

a. Perform a Power Reset

Turn off the laptop and unplug it from power.

If possible, remove the battery (or hold the power button for 15–20 seconds if the battery is internal) to drain residual power.

Reconnect power and try to turn it on again.

b. Try BIOS Access Keys

Immediately after pressing the power button, repeatedly press Esc or F10 to try accessing the BIOS menu.

On some Victus models, F2 or F12 may also work for boot options.

c. Clear CMOS (if supported)

If you are comfortable, use the CMOS reset jumper or remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes to reset BIOS settings to default.

This can sometimes recover a stuck BIOS state.

d. Reflash BIOS in Recovery Mode

HP provides a BIOS recovery option using a USB drive:

Download the BIOS version (F30 or F29) from HP’s website.

Format a USB drive to FAT32 and copy the BIOS file to it.

Plug the USB into the laptop, hold Windows + B, then press the power button.

Wait for the BIOS recovery screen to appear and follow instructions.

e. Consider Reverting BIOS Version

Downgrading from F30 to F29 can be safe if done via official HP BIOS recovery, but it carries some risk.

Only do this if BIOS recovery does not work and the laptop remains stuck.

f. Check Peripherals & External Devices

Disconnect all USB drives, external keyboards, or other peripherals before attempting BIOS access.

Sometimes connected devices can prevent the BIOS from loading.

I hope this helps.

I tried everything you said but the problem still persists.

Hi @klashain,

Thank you for your update. I understand it can be frustrating when the BIOS still isn’t accessible despite following the initial steps. Let’s go through a few additional steps that can help recover your HP Victus laptop.

a. Use HP BIOS Recovery with a Different Key Combination

Sometimes the Windows + B method doesn’t trigger immediately. Try Windows + V while powering on.

Make sure the USB with the BIOS file is inserted before pressing the keys.

Keep holding the keys for 5–10 seconds after pressing the power button, then release and wait for the recovery screen.

b. Try a Forced Power Cycle / Hard Reset Multiple Times

Turn off the laptop completely.

Press and hold the Power button for 30–40 seconds.

Repeat the power-on attempt 2–3 times.

Sometimes repeated cycles help the BIOS reinitialize.

c. Disconnect All Internal Storage (if comfortable)

If you are comfortable opening the laptop, temporarily remove the SSD or HDD.

Power on the laptop with just the motherboard and RAM installed.

If the BIOS loads, the storage device may have been causing the hang.

d. Remove All Peripherals

Disconnect all USB devices, external monitors, or docking stations.

Boot the laptop with only the power adapter connected.

e. Use an Older BIOS Version Safely

If all recovery attempts fail, you can revert to F29 using the official HP BIOS recovery procedure on a USB drive.

Ensure the USB is FAT32, the file is from HP’s official site, and the laptop is connected to power during the process.

I hope this helps.
