Hello,
So my laptop has a black screen and doesnt boot, and the cap lock is blinking twice, wich means i need to install bios update/recovery tool on usb, but whenever i try to open the tool on another pc to put in usb, it thinks that i need the bios tool on that pc
What should i do?
(My notebook randomly froze while i was gaming and after that the problem started)

Hi @Adrian138,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Pavilion dv6 laptop where it has a black screen, doesn't boot, and the Caps Lock LED is blinking twice, indicating a BIOS issue. To resolve this, you need to create a BIOS recovery USB drive on another computer, but you're encountering a problem where the other computer thinks it needs the BIOS tool.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
- Download the BIOS Update/Recovery Tool: Make sure you've downloaded the correct BIOS recovery tool for your HP Pavilion dv6 from the official HP website. Ensure it's the one meant for creating a USB recovery drive.
- Use a Different USB Drive: Try using a different USB drive to create the BIOS recovery tool. Sometimes, USB drives can have issues or be incorrectly recognized.
- Bootable USB Creation: Use a reliable and widely-used tool like Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive. This will create a clean bootable drive without any confusion about the tool being needed on the other PC.
- Reset BIOS to Default Settings: If you can access the BIOS on your HP Pavilion dv6 (usually by pressing F2 or another designated key during startup), try resetting the BIOS to default settings. This might resolve the issue without the need for a recovery tool.
Remember to back up any important data on your laptop if possible before attempting any recovery procedures, as these actions can sometimes result in data loss.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
