Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey,

Just bought this laptop and after 1903 update my battery life has been over a half worse than it was. My battery life should be around 12h but after update its around 3-4 hours. This happens on my friend's laptop too after the update.  His laptop battery life should be around 8 hours but it is 2-3 hours. I have checked for new updates and updated all the drivers but doesn't seem to help.

All I can suggest is checking FastStartup and if it is enabled, as it is by default, then disable it.

Win10 has enabled a new hibernation process known as Fast Startup -- which is enabled BY DEFAULT.

This is different from Fast Boot, which is a BIOS/UEFI option.

Fast Startup is supposed to dramatically speed up the booting process, but in some PCs, it actually slows it down or causes it to hang. It's also a new form of hibernation known as hybrid sleep -- and this causes battery drain to maintain the state of the PC while turned off.

There are two ways to disable FastStartup in Win10: (1) through the Control Panel, and (2) through an elevated command prompt.

Control Panel - Open Control Panel --> Power Options.
Select "Choose what the power buttons do"
Select "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
At the bottom of the Window, under Shutdown settings, uncheck the box regarding fast startup

Elevated command prompt - run the following command:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /V HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD /D 0 /F

In both cases, reboot Windows.

NOW, FastStartup is disabled.

See if that helps.

I tried it and now I have used my laptop about 50min and 14% has gone. It definitely helped the battert life but its still not good enough.

Here is my battery report. Yesterday (08/19) I had FastStartup On. Today I turned it Off (08/20). I will try to use all of my battery down to 0% and then try to charge it again to 100%.
