I can unplug the charger in the mornings with a full charge and go to use later that day for class and the battery is dead?

Screen brightness is the primary killer of battery life -- your model, in a recent review, lasted 13 hours on the battery but that was with the screen brightness at 50%.  With it full up, I would expect less than half of that time, maybe less.

 

If you feel that yours is draining too quickly, then you will need to contact HP Customer Support to have them put you in touch with HP Tech Support to diagnose your issue.
