Hi @amplee001,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The diagnostic result and failure ID you shared indicate that your HP OMEN 17.3-inch Gaming Laptop's battery is likely failing and requires replacement. However, there are a few steps you can try before replacing the battery.

Perform a Power Reset

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and unplug the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Plug in the charger without turning on the laptop and see if the battery charges.

Check the Battery Connection

  • If you are comfortable opening the laptop, check whether the battery is securely connected to the motherboard. A loose connection could cause charging issues.
  • If unsure, consult a professional or refer to your laptop's service manual.

Update BIOS and Battery Drivers

  • Ensure the BIOS and battery-related drivers are up to date.
  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your specific model.
  • Reboot the system after updating.

Calibrate the Battery

  • Fully charge the battery to 100%.
  • Disconnect the charger and let the laptop drain completely until it shuts down.
  • Plug in the charger and charge to 100% again without interruption. Test to see if the battery holds a charge.

Run the HP Battery Test Again

  • Re-run the HP Diagnostics Battery Check via HP Support Assistant to confirm if the failure persists.

When to Replace the Battery:

If the steps above do not resolve the issue, the battery will need replacement. Since the diagnostic result indicates a likely hardware issue, replacing the battery is the most effective solution.

Battery Replacement

  • Ensure you purchase a genuine HP battery compatible with your OMEN laptop model.
  • You can order a replacement battery from HP's official store or a trusted retailer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
