HP Recommended
Probook 650g1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The recent BIOS update sp102455.exe for 01.50 failed to install as had all the upgrades  since 01.43.

After considerable frustration it appears to be a faulty sp package.

What works is -

Work through the BIOS UPDATE process from local media in the BIOS component of the ProBook.

Run spxxxxxxx.exe install file and use the option to set up a Recovery USB  and then alter the file positions on that device.

Need to adjust the files on the USB so that it works
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New
moved the file L77_0150.bin into this folder [it was empty]
This file is found in the \Current folder with the current BIOS bin file.

Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate
check that HPBiosUpdate.efi is in this folder [this is the update utility]
check that HPBiosUpdate.s12 is in this folder [this is the signature file]

Place the modified Recovery USB into a USB port
Restart ProBook
Use the Escape key to enter the setup utility; then the F2 key; then the BiosUpgrade using local media.
Works well after the accept choice. No problems.

Clues for this approach were in the advice section of the BIOS update using local media.
