Hi,
My laptop is regularly underclocking itself to under 0.5ghz which makes it basically unusable. CPU temps are fine as the screenshot from coretemp shows, and it's always running on ac power:
I've updated the bios to the latest version but I'm still seeing the same issue. Any ideas as to how to correct this?
Thanks,
Liam

@Liam10, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Install updates using HP Support Assistant
- In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
- Check for updates.
- If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.
Also, check for any pending windows update. Reboot the computer.
Go to Device Manager, find the section titled Firmware, expand it and right-click "System Firmware" then click "Update Drivers" select "Search Automatically Online".
Restart the computer and check for the issue.
If the issue persists, let us run a test on the hardware components of the PC
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.
