Dear HP Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with the camera on my HP device. When I open the Camera application, the following error message appears:

“0xA00F4244 <No camera are attached>”

Details of the issue:

  • The camera is not detected in Device Manager.

  • I have already updated Windows and restarted the device, but the issue persists.

  • The camera driver does not appear / seems to be missing from the list.

I kindly request your assistance in troubleshooting this problem, especially in providing or guiding me to the correct camera driver for my device.

Thank you for your support.

@Dewantara, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

The error 0xA00F4244 “No cameras are attached” typically indicates that the system is unable to detect the integrated webcam. Since you've already updated Windows and confirmed that the camera is missing from Device Manager, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Camera Privacy Settings in BIOS

Some HP laptops have a camera privacy switch or BIOS setting that disables the webcam at the hardware level.

  1. Restart your laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure “Integrated Camera” is enabled.
  4. Press F10 to save and exit.

Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
  4. If the camera appears grayed out, right-click and select Enable or Uninstall, then restart.

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

This helps determine if the camera is detected at the hardware level.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Select Component Tests > Camera.
  4. Run the test and note any error codes.

If the camera is not detected here, it may indicate a hardware issue.

Install HP Drivers and BIOS Updates

Visit the official support page for your model: Official HP® Support

Download and install:

  • HP Camera Driver (if available)
  • HP System Event Utility
  • HP BIOS Update
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics for Windows

Restart your laptop after installation.

Use HP Cloud Recovery (if all else fails)

If the camera is still not detected and the diagnostics test fails, consider backing up your data and performing a factory reset using HP Cloud Recovery: HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support

If the camera is not detected in BIOS or diagnostics, it may be a hardware failure. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - Indonesia | HP® Support
