Can I operate my laptop without battery.

HP Recommended
Example: Pavilion 653
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Please help. All of a sudden I can’t boot. Got hard disk error. Turns out battery was causing error. I removed battery, plugged in.  Restart, I get the same error message. After passing the system error checks how do I get passed the error message?

@Gerbert, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

What is the exact error you get?

If the computer is stuck at the error, it could be a hardware issue.

For now, perform steps 1 and 2 from this document.

Run a hardware test:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.

Keep me posted.
