HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 13-aw2000 (8UY97AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had some problems (freezes, resets). HP support referred me to the only "certified HP lab" in a 50 mile radius (that accepts computers and not only printers).

The technician at lab claims I wasn't supposed to upgrade to Windows 11, even though I upgraded after the computer passed the health check and Windows 10 was suggesting to upgrade to Windows 11, because there are no drivers for Windows 11 (which indeed on HP site there aren't any).

Is it possible that I'm stuck with Windows 10, which is out of support, for a computer that was purchased only 4.5 years ago for 1500$ - which basically means I need to trash the computer and buy a new one...?

Hi @trax72

Many updates are done through Windows Update, or you can go to the manufacturer's website, for example, for graphics cards, to update. HP will not offer Windows 11 drivers for all models because they are not necessary, as many Windows 10 drivers work on Windows 11.

Hi Resistencia,

That is exactly what I told the technician, but he insists that Windows 11 was the problem with the computer.

He installed the original Window 10 version on the computer, and although the problem happens less I think it's still there (since a few hours ago that I took the computer back, it "only" restarted itself without warning twice, which is supposedly better than every few minutes, but obviously still not really usable, and will probably start happening every few minutes at the worse possible time...).

You didn't directly answer my question though... is the computer supposed to be upgradable to Windows 11 or not...?

Thanks.

You must have an 11th generation Intel Core processor, which is clearly compatible with Windows 11. You may have another problem, such as insufficient or damaged memory, or a failing hard drive.

The processor is:

11 th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz, 2803 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Memory:

Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 16.0GB

And a 2TB completely new SSD drive.

Whether the memory or harddrive are faulty is exactly what the technician was supposed to find out.

I'm asking again:

Is there any reason this computer can't be upgraded to Windows 11 like the technician *insists*?

HP Recommended

There is no reason why computers with 8th generation processors can all be upgraded to windows 11
