HP G62-225NR Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OLaptop purchased about 7 years ago. Came with Windows 7 preinstalled. Upgraded to Windows 10 about a year ago. I didn’t make recovery disks immediately, but did so in May 2018, after I had upgraded to Win 10. I used 4 CD’s in all.

A few months after upgrading to Win10, I started  having a lot of BSOD issues—mostly bad pool header but also driver Iqrl not less than or equal to. Seems it started after April 2018 update. I thought I was able to  fix those issues. That’s when I created the recovery disks. Then with the Oct 2018 Win 10 update, I started getting a BSOD after every restart.  The same error messages as before, but with new error of bad system configuration. Tried all System Repair and Troubleshooting options.  After trying several options, I was no longer able to restart in safe mode. Finally all restarts ended with continuous loop of System Restore then to BSOD.

I can’t download new copy of Windows 7, since it was preinstalled. Cost to buy Win 7  would be as much as “new” refurbed laptop.

Tried to use recovery disks created in May. During load of disk #3, process stopped. Received message “your pc needs to be repaired”. Message about missing Win32 exe file (can’t remember exact message).

Tried to download new copy of windows 10 onto USB from my tablet, keep getting error message there as well.

Basically, I have given up on restoring current laptop (unless there are solutions I haven’t tried) and I’m ready to by new/refurbished device. My question is—can I use the recovery disks created on old laptop to load files, photos, etc. to a new device?  I’m thinking yes, but would appreciate any advice. I don’t have any other form of backup for these files.

Hi:

Here is what I would do if you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your PC's case...

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

https://www.heidoc.net/php/Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe

Select the Windows COEM ISO file download for the version of W7 the product key is good for.

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or DVD, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page...
