Pavilion 15 ab-291sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I was just wondering if my laptop could be downgraded to windows 7 as I absolutely hate windows 10.

HP doesn't provide drivers for win7 on it's support website, but maybe they do exist somwhere?

I tried installing windows 7, managed to install drivers that I found on different websites and with help of some 3rd party driver software and everything seemed to work. But it had some hiccups and glitches like when I pluged anything into usb3 port system would hang for couple of seconds, or hdmi audio would dissapear after system going to sleep, or after sleep I couldn't adjust the screen brightness until I closed and opened the laptop again.

Any help with that please?

Thank you

Hi:

You should be able to use the W7 x64 drivers and software from the 15t-ab000 on your model, except the BIOS and firmware files.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-15-ab000-Notebook-PC-series/7771366/mode...

You will also need the Intel USB 3 driver, which is not listed on the support page for the above model...

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22824/USB-3-0-Driver-Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Control...

Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file.

Thank you,

This looks very promising.

Just the wi-fi and bluetooth drivers are missing as mine's are from Intel, but those are easily downloadable from Intel's website.

I'll give it a try on the weekend and let you know how it all gone.

Thank you!

You're very welcome, and yes you are correct.

You can get the wifi and BT drivers from Intel, or you can use the HP ones below...

This package contains drivers for the Intel Wireless LAN adapter in supported models running a supported operating system.

Excellent,

Now that I have downloaded all the drivers I'm ready to give my beloved windows 7 another go.

Will let you know of the outcome.

Thank you once again!

You're very welcome.

If you have a problem finding any drivers, just let me know and I will help you further.

I don't see any reason why your notebook can't run W7 just fine.
