So today I cleaned my laptop and removed some stuff that I didn’t want out of my laptop to make it run smooth. I restarted my laptop and then i notice the network settings has gone. And I cannot use my WiFi at all. I check the internet connection folder and it just disappeared and was empty. So I tried everything to make it work again and nothing happened. So I decided to reset my pc and it says I couldn’t because “there was a problem resetting your PC, no changes were made” so I’m stuck now, I tried everything and nothing worked. I don’t know what to do, please help. I can’t use my internet or laptop at all.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that info...

Hi:

I see from the specs that your notebook originally came with W8.1.

Are you still running W8.1 on there or did you upgrade to W10?

I need to know because I am going to give you a way to reinstall whichever operating system you are running on there currently.

I’m sure it’s windows 10 .

OK.

Using another working Windows PC, create a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive by using the media creation tool at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you need to recover files off the PC, then when it asks 'Where do you want to install Windows?' let it install over the current Windows partition and it will create a Windows.old folder.

Then after W10 has completed installing, you can explore the Windows.old folder, find your old user profile and copy and paste your user folders/files to your new profile.

Also, if you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

I cannot use WiFi as well, the network settings has disappeared completely that’s why I want to reset.

HP Recommended

Hopefully, that will fix everything.

If the wifi was working fine before you were 'tinkering' with the files, you should be all set.

I would find it very unusual that the wifi card would pick that moment to fail on you.

but I can’t do anything, after I restarted on the laptop. I tried to fix everything to make my network settings come back but nothing happened, this is why I need help, I can’t use my laptop at all.

I know.

And that is why I wrote that you need to get a hold of another working Windows PC to create the installation media.

With W7 or newer on it.

Did you try to factory reset the PC?

You will get W8.1 back, but then you can easily upgrade back to W10, by clicking on the blue Update Now button on the Microsoft media creation tool link I posted above.
