IT LAPTOP CANNOT CHARGE THEN I CLICK ON THAT POPUP IT GIVES ME A MESSAGE:

HP Smart Adapter

Your computer is designed to vary performance as needed when a smaller capacity Smart AC Adapter is connected. However your computer exceeds the power rating for the Smart AC Adapter connected. Please connect a higher capacity Smart AC Adapter.

HP offers a wide range of Smart AC Adapter for your convenience, replacement, and travel needs. Find these accessories and more at select retailers.

Welcome to HP Support Community, @Hacker8

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

1.Check your laptop charging port.

If it is a round-barrel pin (most common for your model), you must use a 90W HP Smart Adapter, not 65W.

If you charge using USB-C (less common for this model), you need a 65W USB-C PD charger that supports HP

2.Smart technology. Normal chargers often cause this problem.

Make sure the adapter is a genuine HP Smart Adapter. Many “original” adapters sold online are actually third-party and cause this exact popup.

3.Check the wattage printed on your charger.

19.5V – 3.33A = 65W

19.5V – 4.62A = 90W
If yours is 65W but the laptop needs more, you will always get this error.

Inspect the center pin of the connector. A bent or damaged pin also causes this warning.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
