Hi @Wfis,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Boot Device Not Found" error means your HP computer is not detecting a bootable operating system. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check BIOS Boot Order

  1. Turn off your computer.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  3. Look for the Boot Options or Boot Order section.
  4. Ensure the primary boot device is set to your internal storage drive (HDD/SSD).
  5. Save and exit (usually by pressing F10, then selecting "Yes").

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off your computer.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press F2 repeatedly.
  3. Select System Tests > Extensive Test.
  4. If errors are found, your storage drive may be failing and need replacement.

Check if the Hard Drive is Detected

  1. Enter BIOS using F10 as mentioned earlier.
  2. Look for Storage Information.
  3. If your SSD/HDD is not listed, it may be disconnected or faulty.

Reseat the Hard Drive (For Desktops and Some Laptops)

  1. Power off your computer and unplug it.
  2. If it's a desktop, open the case and check the drive cables.
  3. If it's a laptop, remove the back panel and reinsert the SSD/HDD (if accessible).

Reinstall Windows

If the hard drive is detected but the system won’t boot, your OS may be corrupted.

  1. Use another working computer to create a Windows installation USB:
  2. Insert the USB into your HP computer.
  3. Boot from the USB (press F9 at startup and select the USB drive).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
