Computer repeatedly crashing- ETD_SMARTCmd stopped working

My laptop has been crashing recently. I usually don't turn it off, just put it on sleep mode, it still gets updated though. 

Sometimes when it comes back from sleep , my task bar and menu have completely frozen but I can still work on whatever I already have open.

Today I started looking for instructions to figure out what is going on. When I looked at my computer's reliability report it shows critical events ETD_SMARTCmd stopped working. Is there anyone familiar with this issue that can help me?

(2) Uninstall HP 3D DriveGuard

(3) Reboot !

(4) Update BIOS

How old is the laptop?  If it has a mechanical hard drive, it could be going bad.

Hw do I find my driveguard? I saw it is located i n the mobility center but I don't see it when I pull it up and then it is not located in my add/remove apps options.
