For some reason can’t choose OS and product in the lists above. It’s a HP Pavilion 11 -n03xno- x360 PC (notebook, all in one laptop, tablet etc. Listed in lots of categories)

Somewhere on the way I believe windows update replaced and also installed drivers and devices that not originally came with this computer. It happens after upgrading win 8.1 to win 10. At first i didn’t know that was the problem. The touch function for screen stopped working and since I’m not a “techie” I thought something did go wrong in the installation-process and therefore I reset the computer to factory settings and it all worked again just as before. So I tried again to upgrade to windows 10 but the same thing happens again. I decide to reset again and just accept to live with win 8.1. But this time the computer says that boot option for factory reset is missing from the computer. After a few days of googling (witch i now hate) it seemed that the factory recovery partition somewhere on the way got deleted and everywhere it said that easiest was to create a installation media with the OS I wanted. So I did create one with win 8.1 and installed it on the computer. What all sites and articles failed to tell was that this would not set my computer back to as it were. Turns out HP’s own preinstalled devices and drivers (that apparently ware on the recovery partition that got lost) stayed the same as after upgrading to windows 10. Since then I have tried to restore the partition which did not work but I seem to have restored all files on that partition. I just don’t know how to use to factory reset again. The folder “factory update/fixup” in main folder “recovery”  is not recognized as to be used for resetting the computer. The fact is that my computer aborts factory reset every time saying boot drive missing. All files recovered seems to be saved in a regular folder I had to create while recovering them through WinFr as it did not get restored to its origin place nor was able to save on the same drive as I recovered them from.

I tried just to update drivers one by one through device manager but as it turned out it is not even the right devices or drivers for this computer.

I know this is an old Stone Age machine but I love it! And I want it back to as it were before the first upgrade to win 10

Do someone know how to either get a hold of all hps preinstalled drivers for this computer and a ISO of the windows 8.1 that came with it?

Or

Does anybody know how i can get the recovered factory reset folders to once again work to factory reset the computer? Meaning somehow either to create a new recovery partition from them, move them back to were the h*ell ever they used to be before being deleted or anything else’s that can help me restore my beloved notebook?

If u need additional info of the computer I can send this via PM but I do not want to share them openly here. Please help me 😢

ps. It reached end of life (and support) 4 years ago

Hi @Tinyminime,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how much you’d like to bring your Pavilion 11-n03xno x360 back to the way it was when it first shipped, and I completely empathize with the frustration you’ve gone through with recovery partitions, resets, and missing drivers.

Unfortunately, this model has already reached End of Support with HP, which means recovery media, factory images, and original driver packages are no longer available from HP. Microsoft has also ended support for Windows 8.1, so we’re not able to provide an ISO or factory recovery set anymore. That’s why you’re seeing “No downloads available” when searching under drivers and software.

Here’s what you can try instead:

  1. Windows installation media
    • The only option now is to use the Windows 8.1 ISO you already created or the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft.
    • Since the factory recovery partition is corrupted and cannot be restored, you won’t be able to bring back the exact HP factory image.

  2. Drivers
    • After installing Windows, run Windows Update repeatedly. Windows 10 will usually pull in the best available drivers automatically.
    • If some devices still show as “Unknown” in Device Manager, you can right-click → Properties → Details → Hardware IDs and search those IDs on the web to locate generic drivers from the component manufacturer (e.g., Intel, Realtek, Synaptics).

  3. Touchscreen issue
    • The touchscreen relies on the correct HID (Human Interface Device) driver. In Windows 10, this is usually supplied via Windows Update.
    • If it doesn’t appear, it means the hardware may no longer be supported under Windows 10 for this older platform. In that case, only Windows 8.1 (via Microsoft ISO) will restore touchscreen functionality.

To answer your main question:

  • HP cannot provide the original factory recovery image, ISO, or drivers anymore for this system.
  • The recovered recovery folders you have cannot be rebuilt into a working factory partition; they only function when written in a very specific way during manufacturing, and there’s no supported method to make them usable again.

👉 My best advice is:

  • Use the Microsoft Windows 8.1 ISO if you want the closest original functionality (though keep in mind it’s out of support).
  • Or use Windows 10 with Microsoft’s built-in drivers for ongoing updates, but some original HP features (like touch) may not work.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
