Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm trying to use the cloud recovery tool as my laptop boots to the dreaded black screen with mouse cursor. When using the cloud recovery tool it tells me my modle is not valid.
I have tried both 4AY85EA and 4AY85EA#ABU neither  work. If i search the support page for drivers using hte modle code i can find every driver etc so i know the code is correct.

Any ideas?

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is no longer any cloud recovery tool media for your notebook.

If you need to reinstall Windows, you will have to use the Microsoft media creation tool to make a bootable USB installation flash drive and clean install Windows.

Download Windows 10

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page:

Thanks,
I thought that maybe the case. Very disapointing that i can't restore it back to factory but such is life.

I just managed to get the system to work but using Task manager then file, run new task. The c: and removing Nvidia folder from System 32. (uninstalling drivers didn;t work)
now i can see my desk top again. I guess i'll do the windows 11 upgrade.

Thanks

You're very welcome.

Yes, it seems that HP pulled the rug from under us without warning that they seem to be removing cloud recovery support for any consumer notebook or desktop PC that has reached 5 years of age.

I haven't read a thing about it.

I have noticed this for many months now when I try to help folks with the cloud recovery tool.

Hundreds of PC's that used to be supported by the cloud recovery tool no longer are.

that is very poor on HP side. They should have let people know or supplied a restore soloution when new as we did when i work there.

If you are helping anyone with a black screent with cusor you may want to try these steps.
1. log into Laptop as normal,
2 ctrl alt and del select task manager
3 select file and run new task. type C: and enter

4 navigate, windows\windows32\DRIVERS

5 find Nvidia Corporation and delete the entire folder

6 reboot and it should display deksptop again.
If this folder isn;t there. then return to task manager, file, Run new task and type control, this will bring up control panel, Then select device manager, Expand Display adapte, Right click, Select Driver tab then driver details. This will show location of Nvidia folder.

This has worked for me a few times now and i thought maybe a fresh install would stop it happening again.
