I set up a laptop for a staff member using his work email address and joined the device to our Azure AD. Later, the staff requested to use a different name instead. I created a new user account and added it as an additional user on the laptop.

To reconfigure the setup, I disconnected the laptop from Azure AD. However, after doing so, I was locked out of the device — the password I had previously set no longer works.

To regain access, I enabled the built-in Administrator account and set a password via the command line from the BIOS environment. The Administrator account now appears on the login screen, but the password field is missing, preventing me from signing in.

How can I make the password field appear on the login screen so I can enter the password I set for the Administrator account?

@LipeT, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding password issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When the password field disappears—even after enabling the built-in Administrator account—it can really throw you off. That said, for security reasons, we're unable to assist with bypassing or resetting Windows passwords.

Here’s what you can try:

Restart the laptop and let it sit on the login screen for a moment; sometimes the field appears after a short delay.

Tap Ctrl + Alt + Delete once you're on the login screen—this can sometimes trigger the password field to show.

If that doesn’t work, and you're still locked out, your best option might be to perform a clean reinstall of Windows using a bootable USB.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
