Hi @Gwen_58,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your PC won’t start after a reset/update didn’t finish and the device powered off. Let’s go through a few steps to get it working again:

1. Power Reset

Disconnect the charger and all external devices (USB, printer, etc.).

Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge residual power.

Reconnect the charger only and try turning it back on.

2. Boot into Windows Recovery

Power on the laptop and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly.

If successful, it should open the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

From here, try:

Startup Repair → Windows will attempt to fix boot issues.

If that doesn’t work, go to Advanced Options > System Restore (choose a restore point before the update).

3. Reset from Recovery (if WinRE opens)

In the Advanced Options, select Reset this PC.

Choose Keep my files (if you want to keep personal data).

4. If F11 Doesn’t Work

Power on and immediately press Esc, then F9 to check if you can boot from another device.

You may need a Windows 10/11 installation USB to repair or reinstall the system.

I hope this helps.
