Elitebook 2530p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Elitebook 2530p.  I tried loading Windows 7 and Windows XP.  I am wanting to eventually upgrade to Windows 10.  The issue that I am having is that trying to load Windows 7 and then XP I am getting the blue screen no matter what operating system I am trying.  Any help would be appreciated.  I checked the hard drive and it is good.

The RAM is good, tried it.  I tried several more things and I don't know why I tried this but it seemed to do the trick.  I went into the BIOS and I have a micro SATA hard drive in the machine and I changed the setting from ACHI to IDE and it seems to be working.  Not sure why but it seems to have done the trick.

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

So if you have done the above, then next is an OS.  Whether DVD/USB and with Legacy/Secure boot.

You could just start with W10

So what media and what formatting are you trying?

Hi, Thank you for the reply.  I followed all your steps.  When I tried the system test this is what I got.

Start-up test Failed

Failed memory address = 0x10AF0EA8Pattern expected = 0x00000000Pattern read = 0x00100000

I have no idea what that means but I am guessing hard drive is no good?

Hi

Did you test the RAM because it could be a memory failure.

If it is a Hard Disk then I would completely format the whole thing first.

I haven't tried the RAM, I'll try that next.  I have tried formatting the hard drive and that isn't working.  While trying to load XP or Windows 7, that is where the blue screen is coming up.  Thanks for the help, I'll try it when I get home from work.  Next, I'll try a new hard drive after that and see if that helps.
