Product: Elitebook 745
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Wanting to reset and update BIOS but unable to access due to forgotten password.

Apparently file required from HP (smc.bin).

During a chat session I have been told,

"Smc file is no longer provide by HP, only option is system board replacement."

Really!......

Please can someone confirm if this is the case......

Hi:

 

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

 

That was the only way it could be done.

Most HP business notebooks including the one you have, do not generate system disabled codes.

 

Also, removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.
