The latest U82 Ver. 01.01.12 - 07/01/2022 BIOS firmware only support Windows Modern Standby S0 sleep state. The PC won't turn off lights or fan and is always running processes when I want it to be SLEEPING in normal S3 sleep state.
Please bring this feature back for next BIOS update for Elitebook 845G9!! Enable S3 sleep state for Elitebook 845G9. Thanks!

Hi @CiTY666
There is a pending update, it should be ready as soon as possible. Although this problem is usually caused by graphics drivers.
In my case, I solved it by updating the graphics driver.

Thanks for reply, but i don't think this will enable S3 sleep , this only mention to fix the bugs.

No, there are other updates, in my case I update MEI firmware, touchpad and other ...
In other computers I have seen that also updates for better compatibility with hynix memory... etc ..

Having this issue as well, on Windows this can be a problem if I want to place the laptop on a surface like the couch where it won't be good for the laptop if the fan remains on.
Meanwhile on Linux the laptop does not resume from sleep. Both issues I could fix if the BIOS allows me to switch this.

Same problem with the Probook x360 435 G9 and the latst Bios U80. No S3 support and no switch to activate legacy S3. S0ix ist not working properly, especially in linux. My device gets hot and the battery is at 0% after 8 hrs of sleep. Running a little bit of debugging shows that the effective time in deepest sleep state is only about 1 hour. Debugging those kind of issues is extremely annoying (see [content removed]). I'd rather return to legacy S3 which just works. Lenovo re-added the switch for S3 legacy in their Bios. Why can't HP do that?

Hello,
I confirm that my 845g9 does not resume from sleep on a Mint 21.1 (based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS). It shows an unresponsive black screen when resuming from sleep, to which the only possible action is a hard shutdown. This makes the laptop basically unusable in a frequent mobility context. How is this even possible HP?
