I have recently tried upgrading my old 1tb hhd that came with my laptop to a Samsung 860 qvo 1tb. I have copied my data and OS onto the drive yet when I boot up my computer, i get error code 0xc000000e, saying I need recovery tools. I tried my recovery usb and also tried making my own off the hp website and neither worked, I'm not sure what to do to fix it. Can anyone help?

P.S.

The laptop also has intel optane memory, 16 GB which came with the laptop when I bought it new.

When I put the old hhd back in it boots up fine, but not with the ssd.

P.S.

The laptop also has a intel optane me

You can't just COPY the OS to a new drive and expect it to work -- as there are lots of hidden files that would not be seen by the copy function.

Instead, you need to "clone" the OS, and for this you need special tools.

What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR) from here: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
2) Connect the new drive to the PC using a USB-to-SSD drive adapter (like the one illustrated below)
3) Follow the instructions in this link: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW/Cloning+a+disk
4) Shutdown the PC when done
5) Swap the drives and reboot the PC.

NOTE: To do this easily, the SDD has to be the same capacity as the HDD.  IF you get an SDD that is a lot smaller, then before you do the cloning, you have to shrink the largest partition on the HDD (usually the OS partition), to the size such that it, and the other partitions, fit easily on the SSD.

You should boot from the new drive without any problems.

@WAWood

Sorry, I did mean I had cloned it but with different software to the one you recomend. I'll give yours a go. Thanks!

One different factor of the software I recommended is that it includes an option to automatically select ALL the partitions needed to migrate the OS -- and that is useful as folks often forget the partitions other than that holding the OS.

When you open your PC and see “Your PC needs to be repaired, error code: xc000000e, “Required device is inaccessible”. actually it is very common problem, there are some solutions, hope they can help you out.

1. Set BIOS default settings

1. Start your computer and press functional key (F2, F4, or F5, the exact key depends on your computer) when you see the first screen.

2. Then you will enter BIOS, choose the “Exit” tab, find the “Load Optional Defaults”.

3. J save and exit then restart your PC.

Method 2. CHKDSK utility

There is a disk manager called AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard provide a CHKDSK check, but, firstly, you need a USB to make the USB bootable, and make your PC boot from the USB.

preparation:

  • A USB drive. It will be formatted, so please back up the USB.

  • Another working computer installed AOMEI Partition Assistant.

Firstly, we need to create a bootable USB to boot your computer, then we can fix the 0xc000000e problem.

1.. Download  and open AOMEI Partition Assistant in another working computer. Click “Make Bootable Media” and “Next”.THen follow the instructions.

2.After creating a bootable USB. You can use it to boot your damaged computer. Insert it to your damaged computer, and boot your computer from the USB.

3. When you see the AOMEI Partition Assistant, right-click the C system partition, and select “Advanced” > “Check Partition”.

4. Choose “Check partition and fix errors in the partition using chkdsk.exe”, and click “OK”.

And wait for the program to finish.
