As of a few months ago i started having bsod errors on my laptop, of which the error messages i got the most were:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Recently i started looking in to these errors, and in event viewer i can see this Information box about 3 seconds before the bluescreen with error 1001 (bluescreen error)

The error seems to link to hpdskflt.sys which is a sys32 file; im not entirely sure what this file is or what it does and after reading stuff about it it appears to be a driver for HP 3D DriveGuard Software, which protects the HDD.

I've tried to look at a lot of stuff relating to these kind of issues but cannot really find a good solution to this problem. All that i can think of to do now is a factory reset of my laptop after saving my files to a Cloud drive but this is really a last resort option for me.

Potentially this issue could be related to memory, i seem to have a very high memory consumption even with very little processes running (i've disabled a lot of startup processes too), here is an image of my task manager with only task manager being open:

45% seems quite high at least to me.

I have 2x4GB SODIMM RAM (as you can see with only my browser open the memory usage is up at 58%)

Whether memory is the issue or not im looking to upgrade to 2x8 regardless, just not sure whether it will actually solve the bluescreen problem.

Has anyone else ever had a similar problem to this, or can offer any help to me? I would be really thankful for any support at all!

Thanks,

Alex
