Hi @Navy917,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is redirecting to a McAfee site and you're having issues accessing your homepage or email on Chrome, it may be due to browser settings, extensions, or potentially unwanted software. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Troubleshoot Browser Redirection and Homepage Issues:

  1. Check for Unwanted Extensions or Programs
    • Open Google Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
    • Select More tools and then Extensions. Disable or remove any unfamiliar or suspicious extensions.
    • Access Control Panel > Programs and Features on Windows to check and uninstall any unwanted programs.

  2. Reset Google Chrome Settings
    • In Chrome, click the three-dot menu, go to Settings, scroll to the bottom and select Advanced.
    • Find Reset and clean up, and click Restore settings to their original defaults. Confirm to reset settings, which should clear unwanted configurations.

  3. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
    • Go to Chrome settings, select Privacy and security, and click Clear browsing data.
    • Choose All time for the time range, ensure Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files are checked, then click Clear data.

  4. Scan for Malware
    • Run a system scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus tool to ensure no unwanted software is causing issues.

  5. Set Default Homepage
    • If Chrome is functioning normally, go to Settings and set your homepage.
    • Under Appearance, you can set the home button to open your desired homepage, such as Google or any other preferred website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
