HP 14 Pavillion broke, will not recover.

Used to be my grandma's, but while she was babysitting my 2 year old cousin he banged on it and it now only goes to the "chrome os missing or damaged screen" so she gave it to me as a summer project to fix. I attempted to install windows but to do that I needed to fix the chrome os to install UEFI. I used the Google Recovery thing and installed it to a usb drive, plugged it in, and it gave me a black screen with a glitchy blue line in the middle. I let it sit and it started checking the drive to see if it was a correct media, and the machine gave me "an unexpected error has occured" and I proceeded to find the HP brand usb drive that came with my HP 15 fw-f014m laptop and I installed the recovery media on that. Same error. I don't know what to do and maybe something on the motherboard or storage is broke, I took off the bottom (breaking some little plastic bits on the case near the hinge in the process) and then scanning the machine. It looks fine, but I don't see the storage or any part that could have damage because I only know how to work with desktops. It was very confusing and Im going to attempt to remove and look under the motherboard, does anyone know how to fix this? she got a new one but I want to fix this, install windows, and try to make it run minecraft just to have fun with it.
