Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I forgot/lost the password to access the bios.

Tried to google troubleshooting. None of them worked, even took the laptop apart but could not find the CMOS.   Is there a simple solution to this?

Leave it blank and hit Enter. After 3 times it will give you a halt code to post here.

Unfortunately, no passcode generator for hexadecimal halt codes. Most halt codes are numbers only.

So....What does that mean?

@EmeraldDreamz

None of the members here can generate a passcode to get you past the password prompt. Only "official" HP Support can help and they will probably tell you it requires motherboard replacement.

Unless @DavidPK has had any luck there is nothing we can do. Sorry.

There may be a small window of opportunity, however this does depend on the current revision of the AMI bios you're running.

Remove the rtc cell ( leave the power board connected ) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds - leave the machine like this for a couple of hours before re-inserting the rtc and re-assembling.

The bad news is that the rtc is on the 'wrong' side of the system board so will require quite a lot of disassembly - see Page 82 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Regards,
