I am not sure if you stated somewhere on the thread, but I have seen at least one poster say the error didn't occur until after 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955)
Did your problem start after installing Fall Creator Update or only after installing the Cumulative Update? Trying to get as many details as possible to HP.

@CherylG
It started after installing the following;
2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955). Successfully installed on 11/15/2017
2017-11 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4048951). Successfully installed on 11/15/2017
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows Insider Preview and Server Technical Preview x64 - November 2017 (KB890830). Successfully installed on 11/15/2017
Installation dates of those updates are on the 11/15/ 2017 which was the same day the error message popped up after the reboot.
I don't think the Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1709 has got anything to do with it 😛
Probable cause might be the 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955).. That's what my gut instinct tells me because I have HP 3D DriveGuard Software v6.0.44.1 Rev.A (SP82228) installed months ago and it ran fine before the recent Windows update.

@CherylG
Just to let you know, I uninstalled the 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955) via 'View installed update history' in 'Settings' then it restarted my laptop. Laptop rebooted and no more HP 3D DriveGuard incompatibilty error pop up.
My laptop already have the v6.0.44.1 Rev.A previously installed.

Hello, I'm in the same situation than Nazrae!

@plopix
We're all in the same boat 😞 Unfortunately, the 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955) from Microsoft screwed up the HP 3D DriveGuard.
Now the people at HP has to whip up something to rectify the issue.
I uninstalled 2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955), rebooted and no more pop-up.. But as usual, Windows 10 will download the update automatically. There's no way for me to stop the auto-update from gpedit.msc as I'm using Windows 10 Home Single Language version.
Those with Windows 10 Professional will be able to Stop/ Halt the Automatic Windows Update via Local Group Policy Editor.
