HP EliteBook 840 G4 Notebook PC

I am using an HP EliteBook 840, and recently my 1TB internal HDD is not being detected by the system. I’ve already tried several steps, such as:

  • Checking in BIOS (the drive is not showing there)

  • Reconnecting and reseating the HDD physically

  • Running HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Updating the BIOS and storage drivers

Despite all this, the HDD still does not appear in File Explorer, Disk Management, or BIOS.

Could you please help me identify whether this issue is caused by a hardware fault (HDD or connector) or something related to the BIOS or drivers?
I’d appreciate any guidance or diagnostic steps you can provide to help me get the 1TB HDD detected again.

Thank you,
Nathnael

Check to see if there is a hardware problem: Watch this video.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test then Click here to check warranty

Have you tried connecting the drive to a USB adapter and testing it on another PC?
