Hi,

Below are the steps to create the USB Bootable USB Drive and use the HPREADID to get the INFO.TXT file.

You need to create the USB boot device and run the HP ReadID from the USB Boot device. Below are the step by step instruction to get the required info.

  1. Connect  a USB device to the USB on the computer
  2. Run the Application HPUSBFW.EXE

  1. Ensure  “Device”  >>” File System “ : FAT 32 and >> “ Volume Label” is  populated as seen in the above image.
  2. Select /Check mark the option  >> Create a DOS Startup disk
  3.  Select  the Browse Option  and Locate the Extracted file USB Boot >> DOS Files in the system.
  4. Select Okay  and select the start button
  5. Click on  the “ Yes “ Option to format the USB drive  (* Note All existing data  on the USB drive will be lost )

  1. USB disk will start with message  “ Formatting the device”  ( * Note : This Process will take couple of minutes )

  1. You Should  see a  Format completed Successfully  Message

  1.  Click on the Close  button to exit of the application.

  1.  Now copy the P32015_hpreadid.exe file from the  desktop screen to the USB drive.

  1.  Connect the USB device  to the system  and  power up the unit .

  1. Press the Esc key on the keyboard to  bring up the STARTUP MENU

  1. Then select the F9 option to bring up the  BOOT MENU OPTION

  1.  Select the  USB HARD DISK DRIVE and press enter

  1. You  Should See a C:\ Prompt.
  2.  Enter the following command  at C:\ Prompt
  3. C:/HPREADID.exe press enter to get the information to be displayed on screen
  4. C:/HPREADID.exe>info.txt and press enter – T his will save the file on the USB stick as info.txt
  5.  Request to Email  us with the Info.txt file for further action on the  Issue.

Once you have the info.txt file, please send us the same as an attachment. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the case.

Hi,

Please do not post s/n of your machine on the internet. Elitebook machines use different codes but please try (all lower cases):

e9lv1gofq0   (3rd char is lower case of L, 5th char is number 1 and last char is a zero).

Regards.
