Hi @SLB_03,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy m6 laptop fails to reset and shows the message “There was a problem occurred. No changes have been made”, it usually means the recovery environment is corrupted or the reset files are missing or damaged.

Steps to Fix Factory Reset Failure

  1. Try Reset via Advanced Startup
  • Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
  • Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Select Remove everything > Local reinstall.

If this fails again, proceed to the next step.

2. Use HP Recovery Manager (if available)

  • Restart and press F11 repeatedly during boot.
  • If HP Recovery Manager opens, choose System Recovery.
  • Follow the prompts to reset to factory settings.

If F11 doesn’t work, the recovery partition may be missing or damaged.

3. Create a Windows 11 Installation USB

If recovery tools fail, you can reinstall Windows manually:

What you need:

  • A USB drive (32GB or more).
  • Another working PC.

Steps:

  1. Go to HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Support.
  2. Download the tool and create a bootable USB.
  3. Insert the USB into your HP Envy m6.
  4. Restart and press Esc or F9 to open the boot menu.
  5. Select the USB drive and follow the installation steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
