Notebook 15-bw034na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Trying to reinstall Windows 10 (2004 and 20H2) from USB drive. Laptop doesn't boot properly and keeps restarting.

Solution: I used a Win8 USB boot drive and ran a F.52 BIOS update from there. Laptop then booted properly from Windows 10 media.

BIOS/UEFI update found here:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-bw000-laptop-pc/15551418/model/17133067?sku=2...

TBH, probably not worth the effort as the CPU on this thing is so weak and with 1 RAM slot, an upgrade to 8GB is expensive.

Hope this is useful for someone.

Hi@PeteJJ, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Apologies for all the inconvenience

The only option to reimage the operating system to factory settings.

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. Click Advanced system settings.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
  5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

If you've been using the Recovery Partition (F11) to reinstall the OS, I recommend using the Recovery media instead to wipe out the HDD and create a new partition and fresh OS installation: Click here to obtain one, if you don't have on in your possession.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
