My 1-week old HP laptop has bios F0.5. All the other update and support programs say  there is no updates available. But then one support app, the "HP PC Hardware diagnostics windows" from microsoft app store, keeps pushing "an update" that says bios F5 is available. I have not installed this because the whole app looks shady and visually different from HP Support assistant etc.  What is this? Which bios should I have in this Omnibook?

@HLP7, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics" app from the Microsoft Store might be recommending a BIOS update to F5, but it's probably not the right update for your device. I recommend staying on the F0.5 version instead.

I recommend downloading the application directly from our official website to ensure you're getting the genuine version: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

So obviously I have installed all the uodates that HP SUpport Assistant told me to, which is how I got the Bios F0.5.

Then why does this one other app tell me to update to F5 ??? It is the only one that "has a bios update available"........

I downloaded the recommended program from HP website. It is exactly the same as the one I had from Microsoft store, from HP Inc.  It still keeps recommending bios F5 and I am not going to download it. The program looks visually so different to HP SUpport Assistant, and has bad translations, it just gives a scetchy vibe. Laptop specs are HP OmniBook 5 16‑bc1009no, powered by an **AMD Ryzen 5 8540U* and running *Windows 11*

Hey @HLP7,

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

I understand your hesitation regarding the BIOS F5 update. I would recommend sticking with the F0.5 update for now, as it appears to be the most stable option. Using HP Support Assistant to update your unit is the best course of action, as it ensures compatibility and reliability with your device.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
