Anyone know where I can find these drivers?

@MSmetalX,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Since it appears that HP has removed legacy support for the HP Pavilion ZT1170, you will need to use independent community-driven archives and specialized driver repositories. For the HP Pavilion zt1100 and xz100 series, which typically use ESS Allegro or ESS Maestro audio chipsets, the following repositories are your best bet:

1. Internet Archive (Archive.org):

The Internet Archive is arguably the most reliable "last resort" for legacy hardware. You can find original recovery discs and driver packs uploaded by enthusiasts.

  • HP Driver Disks Collection: This repository contains several ISO images of original HP application and driver recovery discs.
  • Universal Legacy Drivers Pack for Windows XP: A large collection of drivers specifically for XP-era hardware.
  • Sound Card Drivers v2.2: This archive includes specific drivers for ESS Allegro and Maestro-3 chipsets, which were common in those Pavilion series.

2. DriversCollection.com:

This site is a well-known community repository that hosts drivers for discontinued hardware.

  • You can browse their HP Pavilion Notebook section to find legacy XP drivers that are no longer on HP's official site.

3. Snappy Driver Installer Origin (SDIO):

Instead of searching for a single file, you can use Snappy Driver Installer Origin.

  • It is a portable, open-source tool with a massive offline database of legacy drivers.
  • Since it scans your hardware IDs directly, it can often find a matching driver for obscure XP-era sound chips even when the official model name yields no results.

4. Direct Driver Download Strategy:

If the above repositories are difficult to navigate, search for the Hardware ID instead of the laptop model.

  • Go to Device Manager, right-click the "Audio Controller" (with the yellow exclamation mark), and select Properties > Details > Hardware Ids.
  • Look for a string such as:VEN_125D&DEV_1988.
  • Searching for that specific ID on DriverIdentifier or Vogons Drivers (a site dedicated to retro PC hardware) will often lead you directly to the correct .zip or .exe file.

Pro Tip: For these specific series (zt1100/xz100), the audio is almost always an ESS Allegro-1 / Maestro-3. If you find a driver labeled for "ESS Allegro PCI Audio" for Windows XP, it will likely work regardless of the laptop brand.

Kind Regards,
