Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,
I own an HP ProBook 640 G1 laptop. Unfortunately, you have forgotten the BIOS administrator password.
After entering the wrong password three times, my system shows a System Disabled code on the BIOS screen.
Here are the details of my device:
Product Name: HP ProBook 640 G1
System Disabled Code (Halt Code): [system locked press the power button to restart the system]
Could you please provide me with the master password or the proper procedure to unlock the BIOS?
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards,

Hi @ibrahimraghdi07

I can help, but I can’t give you a “master password” or instructions to bypass the lock. HP does not publish master/override passwords for BIOS locks, and using third-party “generator” sites or trying to flash EEPROM yourself risks permanently bricking the unit or voiding warranty.

When the BIOS admin password is entered incorrectly multiple times the firmware intentionally produces a “System Disabled” (halt) state and a code. That code cannot be reliably reversed into a password by public means — HP requires ownership verification and service procedures to clear it. Community experience also shows removing the CMOS/RTC battery or simple jumpers usually does not clear these admin passwords on modern ProBooks.

Below is a clear, practical path you should follow (what I would do if I were handling this repair).

  1. Locate the Service Tag / serial number (sticker on bottom of the laptop or under battery). HP will need it. The service manual for the ProBook 640 G1 shows where the tag and internal components are. (h10032.www1.hp.com)

  2. Prepare proof of ownership: purchase receipt, invoice, or other documentation showing you own the laptop. HP Support / authorised service will ask for it.

  3. Contact HP Support or an authorised HP Service Provider

    • Tell them: “BIOS administrator password forgotten; system shows ‘System Disabled / system locked’ after 3 incorrect attempts. Product: HP ProBook 640 G1. Service tag: <your tag>.”

    • Ask them to initiate a BIOS password removal or service request. They will explain the required verification and service options (in-warranty vs out-of-warranty). Community guidance and HP responses recommend using official channels — they will either provide depot repair instructions or schedule shipment to an authorized repair center.

  4. Do NOT follow “master password generator” sites or random unlock utilities. They are unreliable, often paid scams, and can permanently damage the system.
