Hi Everyone,
I have had my Spectre for over a year now and it has been great.. the past 3 / 4 months the fans have constantly been on and every now and then the bottom of my screen disappears for literally a second and comes back. The laptop is also running at close to 3.7GHz on very regular occasions when it says it can only run at 1.8 GHz so it is stopping me from using certain applications. I saw something to download the HP Command Centre, which I cannot seem to find anywhere! Does anyone know where I can find this? Also, any ideas on what I can do?
I have spoken to 2 PC specialists where 1 mentioned having to do a diagnosis and to check my Bios (which I have no idea how to do) and the other has mentioned I could require a new motherboard? Would be great if someone could help as I use this all day, everyday for work and am a complete novice when it comes to computers!!
Thanks in advance 🙂

I reviewed your post and I understand that the fan is always on the CPU is running at higher frequencies.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
What is the product number of your computer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi There,
Thank you for coming back to me, my product number is 2QH38EA#ABU
I did the update on the BIOS and nothing had changed, still running above 3.6GHz practically all the time. It has its moments where it drops to within its parameters but it is mainly running at that level. I have no idea what has happened as it has always been fine, and then roughly 2 months ago I noticed the fans were on all the time but didn't think anything of it, until I noticed issues with the screen and when I try to run certain programs.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks in advance!

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
