HP Stream 14-cb0xx

I'm trying to repair a friends laptop. I am trying to create a USB drive via the cloud recovery tool.

Unfortunately the program will not accept the product ID of 3RN80EA#ABU - stating the product id does not match or is invalid. Yet is is the one printed on the bottom of the laptop.

I cannot install windows off a USB stick to the limited 29.1gb partition as it won't let me, so using this tool might be the last option.

Regards

HP has withdrawn support for the cloud recovery tool since the notebook is more than 5 years old.

If the notebook doesn't have enough space to clean install Windows via a USB flash drive, then it wouldn't have enough space for the recovery media that would have been created by the cloud recovery tool.

Can't you, when you get to the part of the installation that asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete all of the partitions on the drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space?

That should work.
