Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This laptop only has 4g of internal memory. I didn't recognize this as an issue when I purchased it but once Windows wanted to update, it became a problem. I keep very little on the laptop itself and instead store my files on a usb stick. My internet is via mifi as I can't get regular high speed service at my home. As a result my data is limited. Windows is trying to update again and there is not enough space on the laptop so it tries again and again but is unable to complete the update. I end up with a huge bill as it is using data for each attempt.

Question.....can I run the operating system from an external drive rather than on the laptop itself. If so, how do I do this?

Hi,

The biggest issue is likely to be the meager amount of eMMC memory that seves as an oboard hard disk.

The HP Document at the following link should help you resolve the issue of not enough storage capacity for Windows updates.
