Hi @somniumk

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation clearly. I’m really sorry you’ve had to deal with this—especially when you expected a full recovery to your original English setup.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool should restore your system to its factory image, including the correct language, but in rare cases it may pull a mismatched image based on region or system ID.

Here’s how you can correct this and restore your HP Omen 15 to English:

Steps to Fix HP Cloud Recovery Installing Chinese Windows

1. Check Language Settings in Windows

If the system boots but defaults to Chinese:

  • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region
  • Under Preferred Languages, click Add a language > Select English (United States)
  • Set it as default and restart

If the interface remains in Chinese, this won’t fully resolve it—you’ll need to reinstall with the correct image.

2. Create a New Recovery USB with Correct Region

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool may have pulled a regional image. Recreate the USB with these steps:

  • Download the tool from HP:
    https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205
  • Run it on a different PC and enter your HP Omen 15 serial number
  • When prompted, select English (United States) as the language
  • Use an 8GB+ USB drive and create a new recovery media

If the tool doesn’t offer a language selection, it may auto-detect based on region. In that case, try using a VPN set to the US during creation.

3. Use Microsoft Media Creation Tool (Alternative)

If HP’s recovery keeps defaulting to Chinese, you can install a clean version of Windows 11 or 10 in English:

Let me know your exact Omen 15 model number and whether you’re trying to restore Windows 10 or 11—I’ll guide you through the most compatible recovery path.
