I have an HP photosmart m525 and it won’t turn on even with new batteries, the power button also seems like it is stuck and can’t get it in its original position. Any tips on how to get it to turn on?

Hi @Tremont1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Photosmart M525 isn’t turning on, even with new batteries, and the power button seems stuck. Let’s go through steps to try and get it working safely.

a. Check the Power Button

If the power button is stuck or jammed, it may prevent the printer from powering on.

Gently press and release the power button a few times to see if it springs back.

Use a small, soft tool (like a toothpick) around the edges of the button to clear any debris, but don’t force it, as this can damage the button.

b. Verify Battery Installation

Remove the batteries and inspect the contacts for corrosion or dirt.

Clean the contacts with a cotton swab lightly dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

Reinsert fresh batteries carefully, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

c. Perform a Hard Reset

Remove all batteries.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.

Reinsert the batteries and try turning it on again.

d. Check for Mechanical Obstructions

Open any battery compartment covers and make sure nothing is blocking the power button from fully pressing.

Sometimes the cover or internal latch can jam the button.

I hope this helps.
