SimpleSave. Model: hp md2000h

Hi there,

My HP SimpleSave external hard drive was dropped on the carpet from a height of 3 foot. The USB cord & the power cord was plugged in to the device but it was not plugged in to any power source.

Now, when I plug in to the wall outlet and the computer, it does not power on. The blue light at the bottom turns on for a sec then turns off, but no power. it does not make any noise.

Please HELP!! Thank you.

Sounds like it has failed.

There is not likely anything you can do.

Failed is failed.

The software, the drive, the hardware (housing) - none of this has been supported for a very long time.

What else?

Take the drive / unit to a hardware technician and see if he can get it working.

IF you were using the SimpleSave backup software,

The biggest problem that you have is that the data is encrypted to the software.

Assuming you could get the drive / hardware to switch on - is not enough.

You have to have access to working hardware AND the specialty working software.

Hopefully you have copies of the data elsewhere.

Good Luck,

Stay Safe.
