This has nothing to do with Notebook Operating System and Recovery; but nor do any of the other limited help options offered. It is to HP's considerable discredit that even customers with new products are not only offered such scant support alternatives but that it shunts this responsibility on to outside volunteers. All I have wanted to know is why HP is sending me statements that its warranty expired on 15/06/2020 when my laptop hadn't even been BOUGHT at that time? Thank you.

The Warranty is likely reflecting the original / default date assigned when the device was manufactured and / or sent to the retailer for initial sale to the consumer.
Complete and submit the Warranty Dispute form mentioned below.

Register HP Product and Registration FAQ
- Check the Warranty on your product

- If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
- Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
- Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
- Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
- Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
- When the page opens, Click View Details
NOTE: The online database results do not impact the actual contract.

Thank you, Dragon Fur, for the quick and useful response. The preassigned "default date" you mention is new to me and I trust that this can be resolved, in extremis, by following the warranty dispute advice you helpfully add.
Again, thanks.

You bet (about staying safe) especially in your part of the world where masks are traduced as politics and not prudence. I have now registered my laptop (in Portugal where I hope to resolve the matter next week).
This warranty issue, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with the forum in which you are, deservedly, a star. So your help is all the more appreciated. Please feel no obligation to reply. You have already done plenty!
