Hi:

You will have to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure:

HP ProBook 640 G1 Notebook PCHP ProBook 645 G1 Notebook PCHP ProBook 650 G1 Notebook PCHP ProBook 65...

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

After you replace the drive, you can make a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After you boot from the installation media, and you get past the Install Now screen, you will be asked to select the version of W10 you want to install.  Select the version of W10 you had upgraded to (Home or Pro).

Then you will be asked to enter a product key.

Select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and activate once you are connected to the internet.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

But what about my files / data in my current hard disk?? How to secure / safely transfer it to the new ‘solid state disk’ (‘SSD’)?

HP Recommended

Your data is probably not recoverable.

After you replace the drive you can purchase a SATA to USB hard drive cable, plug one end into the drive and the other end into a working PC's USB port and see if you can read/copy any files from the failed hard drive to the PC.

Something like this...

BENFEI SATA to USB Cable, BENFEI USB 3.0 to SATA III Hard Driver Adapter Compatible for 2.5 inch HDD...

What d’you have to say about this  ‘failure ID’?

Now the report indicates the drive has completely failed, and I have explained what you will need to do if you want to use your notebook again.

But I DON’T WANT my important data lost!!
