Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Did a quick system check and I got a failure to my hard drive short DST.  Failure ID:  Q8D7MF-7HX9N2-XD7V7A-60W303.  Product ID:  F9J18UA#ABA.   Is there any way to get this fixed and/or save my personal files?

Hi:

 

The fix would be to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

Most likely your files are gone forever.

 

However, if you want to toss a little money at attempting to recover files on the failed drive, you can purchase a SATA to USB notebook hard drive adapter, plug it into a working PC and see if you can read the drive and copy any files to the PC.

Consult the service manual on your notebook's support page for the hard drive R & R procedure.

You may want to consider purchasing a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive (SSD).

 

You can reinstall W10 for free using the W10 media creation tool at the link below to make a bootable USB installer.

After W10 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
