Hi @Jkop

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — thanks for sharing the details (HP 15s-fq2627TU / fq2527TU, Product ID 536C3PA).

When you say it cannot boot, let me ask a couple of quick clarifying questions before giving you the right fixes:

When you press the power button, do you see any HP logo or BIOS screen at all?

Or does it just show a black screen / keep restarting?

Do you get any blinking LED codes (Caps Lock or Num Lock lights flashing in a pattern)?

Do you hear the fan spin or hard drive/SSD activity?

Common Causes on HP 15s-fq series

Corrupted OS / Boot drive missing → Shows “Boot device not found” or similar.

BIOS corruption → Black screen, sometimes Caps Lock blinks.

RAM / SSD seating issue → No boot, sometimes LED error codes.

Battery/Power problem → Doesn’t power on fully.

Things You Can Try

Hard Reset

Disconnect charger.

Hold power button for 15 seconds.

Plug charger back in (no battery removal needed on this model).

Try to power on.

Enter BIOS / Diagnostics

Power on and immediately start pressing Esc repeatedly.

Then press F2 for System Diagnostics → Run a Quick Test (esp. memory & SSD).

Check Boot Device

In BIOS (press F10 at startup), make sure your SSD is detected.

If it says “No Boot Device Found” → your SSD may be loose, corrupted, or failed.

BIOS Recovery

Turn off laptop.

Hold Windows + B (sometimes Windows + V) while pressing Power.

Keep holding until BIOS recovery screen appears.

Windows Recovery USB

If BIOS sees your SSD but Windows is corrupted → use another PC to create a Windows 10/11 installation USB and boot from it to repair or reinstall Windows.

⚠️ If SSD is not detected in BIOS at all, then it may need reseating/replacement.
⚠️ If Caps Lock LED blinks in a code, let me know the pattern (e.g., 3 long, 2 short), since it indicates a specific hardware fault.

Can you tell me exactly what happens when you press the power button (any lights, logos, or messages)? That will help me narrow it down to either firmware, storage, or hardware failure.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
