Good afternoon. i was given a HP Probook 5330m laptop. It originally had Windows 7 pro on it but was upgraded to windows 10 Pro.
I noticed in device manager that there are 3 items missing drivers. they read as follows:
base system device
unknown device
unknown device
How does one find out what these are?
Thanks
joe

Hi, Joe:
For the first ID you need this driver:
HP 3D DriveGuard Driver
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64144.exe
For the second device, you need this driver:
Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58900.exe
The second driver has a habit of not wanting to automatically install on W10, so if the device remains uninstalled after you run the driver file, this is what you need to do:
Go to the device manager, and click on the unknown device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp58900.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Hi, Joe:
The base system device needs this driver:
JMicron Media Card Reader Driver
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64135.exe
Please post the hardware ID's for the two unknown devices so I can figure out what drivers they need.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:
