Ive had this update for a long time and I dont know how to fix it. Its affecting my ability to get my phone and some other devices to connect to my computer. I got in contact with microsoft support and they say its an issue with my port drivers from hp but since I am using windows 11 there isnt an option for updating drivers.

Hi @mphusut

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The USB driver installation error you are experiencing, particularly error code 0x800f020b, might be due to outdated drivers or compatibility issues with Windows 11.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and update drivers for your HP computer.
  • If it's not installed, you can download it from the HP website. Download HP Support Assistant.

Windows Update:

  • Make sure your system is connected to the internet.
  • Search for and open "Settings" and navigate to "Update & Security," then select "Windows Update."
  • Click on "Check for updates" to see if there are any updates available for your system. Windows updates sometimes include driver updates.

Device Manager:

  • Right-click the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" section.
  • Right-click on each USB device listed and select "Update Driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Download Drivers from HP Website:

Check for Chipset Drivers:

  • The chipset driver often handles various onboard components including USB ports. Ensure that the chipset driver is updated to the latest version.
  • If not available on the HP website, you might want to check the chipset manufacturer's site as mentioned in your product specifications.

If you have tried everything above and continue to encounter issues, it might be possible that the hardware itself is incompatible with Windows 11. The previous drivers from older Windows versions may not support newer operating systems. In such a scenario, considering consulting with HP Phone Support directly for further advice or compatibility details regarding your specific hardware setup.
