Hi Everyone,

Hope that doing well,

I need your help guys.

I have a challenge to myself to recover and make HP Pavilion g6 2102tx in a working state with fine performance.

When I buy this product it come with a Windows 7 Home, I also made the Recovery CDs with the help of HP Recovery Manager but now one of the cd is missing and cd rom is also not working properly. After that the Recovery Partition was created of something 15gb approx. Then I upgraded it to Windows 10 with help of Windows Update Assistant. Still the Recovery Partition was their. Now few days back I was able to make USB Recovery Drive with the help of HP Recovery Media earlier I was not able be able to make it because it says you can make only 1 media. Problem arises when I try to install a SSD unto my laptop and I changed BIOS (Insydeh20 Setup Utility Rev 3.7) BIOS Name. I changed the HDD with CD ROM Caddy slot or vice or versa and the F9 Boot Option Menu and F10 Boot order. My laptop is not able to boot from the USB Recovery Drive and SSD choose option is also not shown in Boot order it only shows Notebook Harddrive only

So, Kindly help me out if any video or any blog or third party source that can help me.

I some questions:

1. If I recover and boot from USB Recovery Drive when their is CDROM Hardware is not inside forget to put, Will it boot.

2. If the boot is going on from the USB Recovery Drive and electricity goes off. Will it impact on the USB Drive when I start the boot next time.

Note:

  1. Test the USB Recovery Drive on another PC: Ensure the USB drive is working correctly. Sometimes, the USB port or the drive itself might cause boot issues.
  2. Consider using a Windows 10 installation USB: If the USB recovery drive doesn't work, you can create a Windows 10 installation media on a USB drive using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. This can also help you recover or reinstall Windows 10, although it might not restore all your original HP-specific drivers and utilities.
  3. Reset BIOS settings: If you're still facing issues after the changes to your hardware and BIOS, you can reset the BIOS to default settings (there should be an option for this in the BIOS menu). Afterward, try booting again from the USB recovery drive.

Booting from USB Recovery Drive without the CD-ROM Installed

Yes, you can boot from the USB Recovery Drive even if the CD-ROM drive is not installed. The USB Recovery Drive acts as a bootable recovery media and doesn't require the CD-ROM drive to be connected to the system. As long as the BIOS settings are configured to boot from the USB device first, it should work fine.

Here's what you can do to ensure this works:

  • Make sure the USB Recovery Drive is inserted into a USB port.
  • Press F9 to open the Boot Options menu and select the USB drive as the boot device.
  • If the BIOS is configured to boot from the Notebook Hard Drive and not the USB drive, you'll need to change the boot order in the BIOS (you can do this by pressing F10 for BIOS settings).

Impact of Power Loss During Boot from USB Recovery Drive

If the electricity goes off during the boot process while you're using the USB Recovery Drive, the recovery process might be interrupted, but the USB drive itself will not be damaged. Here's what to do next:

  • Make sure the SSD is properly detected in the BIOS. It should show up in the Storage section.
  • Check the Boot Order in the BIOS and make sure the SSD is listed as a bootable option. If not, change the settings to include the SSD.
  • Ensure that UEFI/Legacy Boot options are set correctly, depending on the SSD's formatting (UEFI for GPT partitions, Legacy for MBR).
  • If the SSD is not detected, try physically reseating the SSD or checking the connections in the laptop.
